THINGS I LIKE ABOUT AUTUMN

Hello world,

It’s October! October is one of my favourite months, mainly because I feel like autumn is really starting to work out in this month. I’m a huge fan of autumn, and I bet most people are actually, so I thought it would be fun if I shared all my favourite aspects of autumn!

1. Wearing cozy clothes all the time. I can finally wear my jogging pants again and sweatshirts and scarfs and all that cool stuff! I love how comfortable I feel like in autumn. If you compare it to summer, it’s so much better because in summer it’s way too hot to wear cozy clothes like that.

2. The smell of wet leaves. I don’t know why I love this so much, but it just makes my day.

3. Hot chocolates are appropriate again. I love me some good hot chocolate! Other hot drinks like cappuccino or tea is a must too.

4. Hearing rain on your roof. Nothing is more comforting than laying in bed and listening to the rain. It makes me fall asleep quicker, which is always a plus.

5. Listening to ‘cozy’ music. I don’t know why, but I always am in the mood for acoustic songs whenever it is autumn. I listen to the pre-made playlist “Acoustic Autumn”  on Spotify and it just is always amazing.

6. Baking anything with apple in it. I love me some good apple pie or just like Zoella made apple crumble cakes, which looked delicious too. Apple (and specifically warm apple) screams autumn.

Soooo, those were my favourite things that I love in Autumn! I made a video when it was a lovely day a couple of weeks ago, so I will share it down here too so you can watch it if you want. I hope I will upload more of these kind of videos soon! Thank you so much for reading and comment down below what you love about autumn, or if you hate it, what you don’t like about autumn! See you next time!

10 TIPS FOR A PRODUCTIVE DAY

Hello world,

Omy, it has been a looong while. School is hectic and I’m doing everything I can to keep up with the busy schedule that they are giving me. And yes, I will be back posting every week, (I hope) and there is also something different coming! And now for real! Because of the hectic school schedule, I tend to do nothing in the weekends just because I’m so not into being busy 24/7. Of course this is not the greatest idea so I came up with some ideas that will get me out of bed and make sure that I use every day at it’s maximum. So without further adue, let’s get started with the blog post!

1.Go to sleep early
This takes place the day before the actual productive day. If you want to get things done, you need to go to bed on time, otherwise you’ll lay in bed for the rest of the morning because you messed up your sleeping routine.

2.Wake up early
Some people can’t function in the early hours of the morning but it is very important to do this. Again, spending the rest of the day in your bed is not a great idea if you want to get things done. And I mean, you don’t have to be awake at 7 A.M., 9 A.M. is early enough.

3.Make sure you eat breakfast
You can’t be awake, if you don’t eat. I don’t know if this is just me or if anyone else has this, but food just makes me feel so much more alive. A healthy drink helps too, something like orange juice or a strawberry/banana smoothie. If it fills you up, it’s perfect.

4.Take a shower if you feel like it and do put clothes on
If you feel disgusting, please shower. If I don’t feel clean, there is a little chance that I’m going to be productive. Also, if I’m staying in my pyjama’s all day, I probably won’t be productive either. If you can be productive while you’re in your comfy outfit, totally go for it!

5.Just get done whatever you have to do
If you don’t want to do something, you should probably do that first! The more you’re not looking forward to it, the harder it will get when you postpone it and you will end up without doing it.

6.Know when you can put music on, and when you can’t
Personally, when I’m doing my homework, I can’t put music in. Music gets me distracted and if I need to get things done, that won’t work out too well for me. If you can work with music on, go for it, but don’t fool yourself if you can’t.

7.Leave your phone somewhere else, in case you’ll get distracted
Again, if you can work with your phone next to you, leave it there. I get distracted quite easily so I know that I should not keep my phone near me.

8.Set timers
If you’re doing homework or you’re studying for a subject, it is smart to set timers. Otherwise, you’ll be spending way too much time for one subject and you won’t have enough time for the other things you need to be doing.

9.Sit in a place where you won’t be disturbed
Like I said a million times in this blog post, I get distracted. Whenever there is a reason to get distracted I probably will use it, unless I’m doing something fun. So if my dog is sitting near, he will be my victim. If my sister is walking by, she will be attacked with questions about her life. You get what I’m doing, so don’t do this, and just sit somewhere else.

10.Use a websiteblocker if you need it
I have to use my laptop a lot for school, which also makes it easy for me to go on FaceBook or Twitter. There are several websiteblockers that will block websites for a certain time so that you can’t go on them. Not really much fun, but it is necessary if you’re like me.

I really hope you enjoyed this blog post! Like I said, I have been super busy with school but now I’m hoping to get back in to blogging regularly again. If you enjoyed it, please like this post and follow me if you would like to see more of me! Until next time!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL; EXPECTATION VS REALITY

Hello world,

We all know what’s it like to go back to school; you’re loving it the first day, seeing  your friends again is cool and then you come home and realise that it’s going to be the same as last year because you got homework to do for the rest of the year. Thanks very much, school. Or is it just me? I hope not, that would make this awkward. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to write a blog post a little bit different than usual since I haven’t done anything like this before. Without further rambling, I should probably get started!

1. Expectation; Seeing your friends again.
Your friends are really excited to see you and you all are chatting about the holidays and about what everyone did in their holiday and you all have the best time ever.

1.  Reality;
You have nothing to talk about because a) you already know what everyone else did in their holiday because you saw their snapchats and facebook pictures and b) you did nothing but watching Netflix the whole time so you only can talk about the new Orange Is The New Black episodes or how many episodes you can watch in a day.

2. Expectation; Starting school chilled and relaxed.
Every teacher starts the lesson with asking how everyone has been and if everyone enjoyed their holiday. After that, they don’t give you homework, since you all are allowed to get into school slowly again, and the teachers don’t want you to get stressed within a day.

2. Reality;
The teachers are telling you the overall schedule for the rest of the year, with tests every week to keep you up to date, and of course they all give you homework for the next day. You try to complain, but that just works out wrong and the teacher gives you double homework for trying to speak up. “Holiday is over kids!”

3. Expectation; Cute guys.
Even though last year, you weren’t too eager about the level of hotness in your class, you still hope they glow’ed up during the summer. And guess what, they did. You and your best friend are very happy about it.

3. Reality;
They didn’t glow up. They wear the same old clothes, behave the same old way, and they still aren’t interested. Maybe next year?

4. Expecation; You suddenly became the most popular girl in school.
Everyone is loving your outfits and they see that you’ve really changed from last year. Your friends are also very popular now and everyone wants to become friends with you.

4. Reality;
Nope, not popular at all. “Did that girl just get my name wrong? We’ve been in school together for what, 5 years, and she still doesn’t remember my name?”

5. Expectation; Your makeup is on point.
That winged eyeliner though, and that contour is looking good. You get all compliments about your makeup and you feel happy and good about yourself.

5. Reality;
Even though your liner worked out pretty great when you were on holiday, for some reason it just doesn’t want to work today. Oh well, then I should just contour. Wait what, where is my cheekbone? This is so not my colour, what is this? Oh right, I used this when I had a tan! Better take this off then as well, since I’m really pale now. Hm, then I should just go for my natural self.

So those were all my expectation vs. reality ideas and also things that happened to me when I was in high school. They won’t happen to me this year, since I will be starting on a completely different school with none of my friends. But I will be fine! Did you experience anything that I wrote down or do you have something else that ALWAYS happens when you’re on your first day? Tell me in the comments below!

Thank you so much for reading & until next time!

Love, Dannielle.

AUGUST MUSIC FAVOURITES

Hello world,

It is the end of the month, which means it’s time for another music favourites! I have been listening to a lot of different songs than usual, and by usual I mean Fifth Harmony, which is cool. So without further ado, let’s get started with the post!

Tears – Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson
I love this song so much! I heard it first in the car on the radio, and then I looked for it and it’s a total jam. I love rocking out to it and feeling all the emotions haha.

Nervous (The Ooh Song) Mark McCabe Remix – Gavin James
This is such a lovely song, it gives me a nice peaceful feeling while the message is kind of sad. I really like the original too, it’s just that I prefer the remix.

Cool Me Down – Margaret
I heard this at the Olympic Games on tv, they made a montage of historic hockey moments or something like that and I loved the song!

No Money – Galantis
I knew this one for a while, but I still really enjoy it!

Middle – DJ Snake
This is also a huge tune to dance on! I like to do various dances to this song haha.

Door Rood – BBrave (this is a Dutch song lol)
Usually, I’m not a fan of Dutch music but this song is actually quite fun!

Side 2 Side – Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj
I love this one! Oh and also, tonight the music video of this song will be released at the VMA’s!

Please Don’t Go – Joel Adams
Also known as the humming song! This is quite a cute song and it gives me the same vibe as Nervous.

So that were the songs that I listened to this month. I hope you enjoyed reading this post and don’t forget to let me know what songs you  have been listening to lately! Thank you so much for reading and until next time!

Love, Dannielle.

I HIT 200 FOLLOWERS

wait what?

I can’t believe that I hit 200 followers!! That is hugeee! Back in the day when I was a new blogger, I never dared to follow bloggers with this amount of followers because I was scared that I wouldn’t ever hit it and that would just suck and I don’t know lol. But here I am! I am honestly so thankful & grateful for all your comments, follows, likes and I am so excited to see what’s happening here in the future!

I just want to quickly thank some of the blogfriends I made on here in the past 7 months! Thank you so much AlannaJess and Inspired Teen for being such nice human beings to me. I hope I did the links right, I’m on my phone so if they don’t work, tell me and I will edit them!

Again, thank you all so much for reading my blog and I hope to see you very soon for another blogpost! Hint; there might be a picture of me in it! 🙂

5 WAYS TO FEEL LESS NERVOUS

Hello world,

Today I wanted to talk to you about being nervous. I am someone who gets nervous in literally a second. If something won’t go like I planned, I will freak out. I don’t know if I actually told you, but I will be going to a completely different school for college then my friends and I don’t know anyone there, which is scary. I will also have to travel by train and I love the train, but I’m also scared of the train. I’m sure that will ease on me though, but I still get super nervous! That’s why the past month I have found some things that will calm me down if I freak out. So, I’m sharing them in this post with you, since I’m sure that I’m not the only who’s scared for back to school! Let’s get started!

Listen to something that makes you forget the world around you.
This could be nature sounds, like I do sometimes or just music in general. I like to listen to cute love songs but you might enjoy something completely different! It’s up to you really.

Dress in what you want.
Personally, if I don’t feel myself a day, I just want to lay in bed in my most comfortable outfit and I just want to watch Netflix all day. Don’t feel like you need to dress up all fancy, while you’re not feeling it.

Try not to think about what you’re nervous for.
My sister is really good at doing this: she just blocks out the thought for the thing where she is nervous for and she only allows it to come back in the morning of where she is nervous for. Personally, I can’t block it out, so it doesn’t work for me but if you can, good for you!

Do activities that will make you forget the thing where you’re nervous for.
Whether this is swimming, drawing, running, dancing, or shopping, do something. I can say that this really works because I do this all the time. Keep yourself busy!

And my last tip is to just realise that it’s coming anyway so it doesn’t really make sense that you’re nervous for it, since it isn’t going to not come basically, if this makes any sense. You can’t stop the thing you’re nervous for, you have to face it.

I hope this kind of helped in some way, I’m not entirely sure if these work for everyone, but they do for me and my family so yeah. We’re literally ALMOST at 200 followers, which is sooo cool! Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget to like and comment! See you next time!

LOOKING BACK: SUMMER GOALS

Hello world,

A long long time ago, I did a post called ‘Summer Goals’, with all the things that I wanted to do this summer. Obviously with me being me, I didn’t do most of the goals that I listed, but hey it was still cool to do! In this post, I’m going to reflect on my goals and see if I actually did do at least one of them. So, let’s get going with the post!

“First things first, I want to step out of my comfort zone this summer.” I would say I did step out of my comfort zone, because, and now don’t laugh at me, I tried a lot of different meals when we went out for lunch or dinner. They weren’t that different from my usual choices but they were different then hamburgers or fries and that kind of stuff. I also tried quite an amount of different flavours than my usual ones for ice cream! I’m proud of myself. No, just kidding, I didn’t do the things that I wanted to try, but that’s okay.

“I really want to eat more fruits, more vegetables, drink more water and work out more.” HA, guess what I didn’t do this summer. I don’t think I have ever eaten this unhealthy in any short period of time. But you know what, I did buy a water bottle for school so I will be drinking loads of water when I go back to school in September. Big fail on this one.

“I want to read more.” Honestly, my goal of 12 books by the first of September aren’t going to succeed, but I did read books! I just ordered a book from the library but it takes forever until I can pick it up so I hope I can read that before school starts. Kind of succeeded but I didn’t get my goal.

“I want to dance more.” Okay, summer isn’t the best time for dancing since it’s hot and I don’t like sweating. That’s my excuse. Of course I have been dancing in my room and in front of the mirror, but I haven’t done/learned any full choreographies.

“I want to hang out with my friends more.” SUCCEEDED! We met a couple of times during summer, but planning a day where everyone can come and no one has to do work or something like that, is hard. My friends came to my city and I went to there place, which was fun! I do want to meet them before school, because we won’t be in the same school so that will be difficult.

“I want to think more about my blog.” Again, SUCCEEDED! I’m so proud of this one, I finally have an idea of what I want my blog to be and I already planned out my posts for August and even some for September!

“I want to have fun.” I got this one too! I for sure had fun this summer, obviously some days were more fun than others but I did have fun so I completed this goal! Oh but I did have a lot of Netflix days, but that’s not bad if it’s raining all day right? Can’t do anything else outside in the rain.

So those were my reflections based on my summer goals list! My summer was in real life quite uneventful but my blog has been very eventful! When are you going to get back to school?  If you enjoyed this post, make sure to like and please leave a comment below! If you would like to see more of me, be sure to follow me! Thank you so much for reading and until next time!

HOW TO FEEL CONFIDENT

Hello world,

Lately, I have been feeling way more confident than usual and I don’t know if it is because I have no school anymore or if it’s because I found some ways to get myself confident and ready, but either way I’m just more confident. I wanted to share these tips and tricks because they help me, so I thought I would share them with you anyway. Who doesn’t want to feel confident and like they could handle the world?

#1 Find an artist or singer or actor that will make you feel confident.
Now, don’t get me wrong. You have to feel confident because you want to, and someone else shouldn’t make you feel confident. But someone ‘helping’ you, can really work. Personally, this is what helps me the most. I use Fifth Harmony for this (omg I really need to stop talking about Fifth Harmony, this is crazy). Basically, I think, if 5H can be confident, why can’t I? After that I just flip my hair and that makes me feel more confident than ever. Beyoncé really works here too.

#2 Dress in what you makes you feel comfortable.
You don’t wanna wear something that will make you feel insecure, that doesn’t help. If you like wearing joggers, wear joggers. If you don’t like wearing heels, like me, don’t wear them. If you don’t like wearing prints, then don’t. Dress in whatever way you like, and try to not care about other people’s opinions. I know it’s hard, but you just have to keep trying.

#3 Talk to yourself in the mirror.
I know, this sounds weird. But, it does help me. Getting used to hearing myself and saying to myself out loud that I look good today, or that my makeup looks cute, or that my hair looks nice, does actually make me feel happy and good about myself. Give yourself compliments, it works.

#4 If you don’t like something about yourself, change it.
Whether this is on your appearance or on your personality, if you don’t like something, change it. I’m very much like someone who feels pity for themselves very quick, so I try to change that because I don’t like being like that. I reflect on my actions and I try to learn from that. It doesn’t have to be specifically about your outside, like my example it can be about the inside too. Feeling confident is about the inside and outside.

I really hope you might have learned something new from this blogpost! I’m not saying that these work for everyone, these are my personal tricks. I know that a lot of people say ‘just be yourself’, but I always get confused about that advice, because I haven’t exactly figured out who I am yet. Give this post a like and thank you so much for reading! Until next time!

Love, Dannielle.

MY EVERYDAY MAKEUP ROUTINE

Hello world,

Welcome back to my blog! Or if you’re new here, my name is Dannielle, and this is my blog where I share my life and everything around it! Today, I have an every day makeup routine for y’all and that’s saying something because I have never had a proper ‘routine’ before for my makeup and now I do so that’s cool. Let’s get started with the actual post before I can’t stop rambling like I’m doing now!

Okay so first off, I’m starting to conceal my face. I don’t use foundation, because it makes my face feel really weird and I just think my face isn’t made for foundation. I use the NYX High Definition Concealer in the shade CW 03 and the shade CW 01. CW 01  is actually a bit light for me right now, because of my tan, but CW 03 fits my skin tone perfectly. I actually did a review for the NYX concealer for my first post on this blog, and I am still using this and I still love the product.

IMG_0505

To blend the concealer, I make my sponge wet, that I got from H&M. It looks disgusting, which is the reason that I didn’t take a picture of it because that’s just gross.

After I did that, I’ll go on with my eyebrows. I use a pencil with a brush on the end of the pencil from a Dutch store, but the colour I’m using is too dark for me at the moment so I need to get a lighter colour.

After that, I’ll do my blush and powder. The blush I’m using is from Essence, in the shade 20 Babydoll, and it’s a beautiful suttle pink and it’s mainly matte, but it has a slight shimmer in it. The powder I’m using is also from Essence and it’s the Mattifying Compact Powder in the shade 10 Light Beige. As you can see, I’ve used this quite a lot and I hit the pan.

After that, I finish my look with my mascara, which suprisingly is also from Essence and it’s called the All Eyes On Me Waterproof Multi-effect Mascara. I always wear waterproof mascara because here in the Netherlands, you simply don’t know if it’s going to rain that day or not. Anything could happen, people.

FullSizeRender

So that was my everyday makeup! Sometimes, I like to spice my makeup up with a highlighter or with a winged line or with a lipstick but that’s not what I do on a daily basis so that’s why I didn’t show those options. I really hope you enjoyed reading this blogpost and if you did, make sure to give it a like and also comment what you thought about it, because I’d love to know! Also, it would be really cool if you’d follow me because I’m almost at 200 followers, which is INSANE! Thank you so much for reading & until next time!

PLACES TO VISIT AT LANZAROTE

Hello world,

Here I am, back with another post. Last week, I went on holiday to Lanzarote. Lanzarote is an island that belongs to Spain and is right next to Morocco. I was planning on doing some sort of blogpost about it anyway, but I wasn’t sure what to post until I got into the shower and got this great idea of sharing pictures and talking about all the places I visited. Does anyone else get ideas when they are in the shower? This is actually my first ever travel blogpost and I’m so excited about it because I love reading about other places! I will try and give a detailed explanation and what I thought about it. It became quite a long post so bear with me. All the pictures were taken by me.

First off, I’m going to talk about the basics:

Puerto del Carmen
We stayed at this city called Puerto del Carmen. I really liked this city, it wasn’t overcrowded with tourists but still there were many people. It has a huge avenue at the beach, with nice restaurants and cute shops. From our apartement, it took like 10 minutes to get there and also get to the beach. There are many stairs though, so that was kind of annoying.

Rent a car
I would definitely recommend renting a car. The island isn’t big but it’s nice to go and leave at the times you want, and not having to wait for the buses. The roads are quite good at Lanzarote and petrol is cheap there.

And now, the highlights of Lanzarote.

Jameos del Agua
Jameos del Agua is a cave that was made by flowing lava thousands of years ago. It’s in the northern part of Lanzarote. It’s part of the Cueva de los Verdes, which in English means the Green caves. I’ll talk more about Cueva de los Verdes later. In the cave, there is a special ‘animal’ that lives there. They look like white spiders, but they’re actually tiny crabs. It’s super quiet in the cave, with spiritual and magical music on the background. Personally, I found the music a bit funny since it didn’t have anything related to the place, but it did give this mystique vibe to the place. When you walk through the cave, you are found at a place that Cesar Manrique created. There is an artificial beach there, with the bluest water, the whitest sand and of course the most beautiful palm trees. On top of the cave, there is a beautiful house that will give you inside information about the vulcanoes at Lanzarote and it has a beautiful view on the rest of the island. I definitely found it worth visiting and would recommend it for sure.

Jameos del Agua

Cueva de los Verdes
This is also a cave, or well multiple caves. Like I said earlier, Cueva de los Verdes means ‘the Green Caves’. It’s huge and it’s also on multiple levels of height, which I found quite interesting. One of the caves is also used as a place where live performances are held, because of the great sound. That cave, if you would walk for a couple of kilometres, it would lead you to the vulcano, but that part wasn’t open for visitors. A tour guide, who speaks English and Spanish, will guide you through the caves. My family and I went at like 2 in the afternoon, which, apparently, is the busiest time to get there. We stood in line for quite a while and then had to wait another 10 minutes for a guide. In the full sun, that wasn’t much fun but luckly I had my hat with me, so I was fine. Definitely something you have to see at Lanzarote and I do recommend it.

Los Hervideros
Again, something related to lava. Basically, here is the end of the island, and water from the sea meets here with huge lava layers. It’s in the west of Lanzarote. It’s really cool to see what the sea has created by moving and the sea is really blue, which I love. I don’t think you miss out on something if you haven’t seen this, but it’s still really cool.

img_0312-1

Los Hervideros

El Golfo
El Golfo kind of gets together with Los Hervideros. El Golfo is also at the west, at the coast. There used to be a huge vulcano, but because of the sea, it got broken down at one side, which makes it half a vulcano. In the vulcano that’s left, there is a beautiful green lake. Obviously it’s not really green, the algae in the water made it green. It’s a place with a beautiful view and is also great if you love taking pictures of nature. Definitely recommending it.

The Green Lake at El Golfo

Timanfaya National Park
This was one of my favourite places we went. It’s a huge park, where you by the way can’t walk, because you aren’t allowed to get out of the car. We went with a tourbus which, I really recommend. There was this building, where we got a little explanation about the heat that’s still close to the surface. There’s this huge oven, which they use for the food in the restaurant. It was really cool to see. After that, we had this tour through the enormous park. It was incredible! It looks like you’re on the moon and everything is just black and sometimes it’s red or white. It’s honestly beautiful and you definitely have to see this when you’re visiting Lanzarote.
